Morocco were crowned champions of the inaugural Women’s Africa Futsal Cup of Nations following a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over Tanzania in Wednesday night’s pulsating final at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat.

In front of a passionate home crowd, the Atlas Lionesses overcame a two-goal deficit to lift their first-ever continental futsal title. Jasmine Demraoui scored the decisive goal in the final minute of regulation time, sealing a memorable win and sparking jubilant scenes in the Moroccan capital.

The triumph also earned Morocco a ticket to the maiden FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup, set for the Philippines from 27 November to 7 December 2025. Despite falling short in the final, Tanzania also secured qualification for the global tournament.

Tanzania stunned the hosts early in the contest, taking the lead in the 4th minute through Anastazia Katunzi, who pounced on a defensive error to fire her side ahead. Jamila Rajabu then doubled the advantage in the 16th minute with a sharp finish from a swift counterattack, silencing the home supporters.

However, Morocco clawed their way back into the contest just before halftime. Doha El Madani converted from the penalty spot, shifting momentum back to the North Africans.

The second half saw Morocco increase the pressure. In the 34th minute, Drissia Korrych equalized with a well-placed strike following a cleverly executed corner kick.

As the clock ticked down, both teams pushed for a winner in an increasingly tense battle. Morocco’s persistence paid off in the dying moments when Demraoui found space and drilled a low shot past the Tanzanian goalkeeper to complete a stunning turnaround.

Earlier in the day, Cameroon claimed third place with a commanding 4–1 victory over Angola.

The tournament’s individual awards were dominated by Morocco and Tanzania:

  • Best Player: Jasmine Demraoui (Morocco)
  • Top Scorer: Doha El Madani (Morocco, 5 goals)
  • Best Goalkeeper: Nassra Abbas (Tanzania)
  • Fair Play Award: Namibia

The thrilling final capped off a groundbreaking tournament for women’s futsal in Africa, with Morocco emerging as worthy champions and new pioneers on the continental stage.
