Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has ordered an immediate ban on the sale of petrol in filling stations across Bama Local Government Area, including Bama town and Banki, due to prevailing security challenges in the state.

The ban was issued after consultations with security agencies and aims to counter insurgency operations.

Governor Zulum warned that anyone violating the directive would face the full weight of the law, and security agencies have been given strict orders to clamp down on any filling station or individual contravening the ban.

In a related development, Governor Zulum approved the release of 35 patrol vehicles and motorcycles to enhance the operational capabilities of the military and youth volunteers in the Izge community, which was recently attacked by Boko Haram terrorists.

The governor visited the community and the 26 taskforce brigade headquarters in Gwoza to show solidarity and examine the situation on the ground.

He commended the community and the military for their gallantry in repelling the insurgents’ attacks and assured the residents of continued government support to restore peace and stability.

The facilities released include five Toyota Hilux vehicles and 30 motorcycles, among other operational logistics.

Governor Zulum also disclosed plans for the continued resettlement of displaced communities, including Ashigasha, Warabe, Guduf, Wala, and other smaller villages.
