Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have announced the arrest of 18 serving soldiers and 15 police officers for allegedly selling arms to terrorists and other criminal elements.
The arrests were made during Operation Snowball, an exercise launched in August 2024 to target ammunition racketeering in the North-East region, across 11 states including Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Ebonyi, Lagos, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The suspects include an armourer of the 7th Division Garrison, Ameh Raphael, who allegedly engaged in the act since 2018 and had N45 million in his bank account, and Seidi Adamu of the 3rd division ordinance services, who had N34 million in his bank account.
A police inspector, Enoch Ngwa, was also arrested with N135 million traced to his bank account.
The operation has recorded successes, highlighting the military’s efforts to curb arms racketeering and prevent the proliferation of illicit firearms.
