A devastating bomb explosion rocked a local bus stop in Mairari village, Guzamala Local Government Area of Borno State, killing nine people and injuring several others.
The incident occurred around 11 am on Saturday, caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by terrorists.
The victims were passengers waiting to board vehicles, many of whom were farmers returning to their destinations after visiting their farmlands.
According to the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, Abdulkarim Lawan, the village had been previously resettled twice with full civil authority but was deserted again due to renewed Boko Haram and ISWAP activities.
Lawan extended his condolences to the families of the deceased and those injured, appealing to the military and security agencies to intensify efforts to restore security in Guzamala, particularly in Gudumbali and Mairari village.
The lawmaker prayed for the swift recovery of those injured and the souls of the deceased to rest in peace, saying “May Allah grant their souls Aljanatul Firdaus”.
