Senator Adams Oshiomhole sparked a major disruption at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 1 (Zulu Hall), Lagos, on Wednesday morning after missing a scheduled Air Peace flight to Abuja.

The former Edo State governor arrived at the terminal around 6:10 a.m. for Flight P47120, which was scheduled to depart at 6:30 a.m. By the time he got there, boarding had closed in line with airline policy, and the flight departed as scheduled.

Air Peace, in a strongly worded statement, condemned what it described as the “unruly conduct” of a “prominent Nigerian politician,” later confirmed to be Oshiomhole.

“Upon being informed of the missed flight, the politician resorted to violence, physically assaulting our staff and forcefully barricading the terminal’s entrance,” the airline said.

“He went as far as sealing the entry gate and manning the access point, effectively obstructing other passengers from gaining entry into the terminal.”

The incident caused widespread disruption at the terminal, affecting several passengers and scheduled flights. Air Peace noted that it had to activate an operational contingency plan to redirect affected passengers through an alternate terminal to prevent further delays.

The airline emphasized its zero-tolerance policy for violence or aggression against its staff and passengers.

“We are deeply saddened that such a high-profile figure displayed conduct so unbecoming,” the statement read. “Air Peace continues to stand for discipline, integrity, and respect for due process. No individual, no matter how influential, is above these values.”

The airline urged all passengers to adhere to established timelines and safety procedures in the interest of smooth operations and mutual respect.
