The 2025/26 Premier League season is set for a thrilling start as Manchester United welcome Arsenal to Old Trafford on Super Sunday, August 17, in what promises to be a blockbuster opening clash.

It will be United’s first full campaign under new manager Rúben Amorim, and the Red Devils face a tough early schedule that also includes encounters against Manchester City and Chelsea within their first five matches.

Arsenal, managed by Mikel Arteta, have a challenging start to their title pursuit. Their first six fixtures include matches against Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, and Newcastle.

The new season officially kicks off on Friday, August 15, with defending champions Liverpool hosting Bournemouth under the Anfield lights in the first edition of Friday Night Football.

Saturday, August 16, sees a packed schedule:

  • Aston Villa vs Newcastle opens the day’s action in the early kick-off.
  • Manchester City travel to Wolves in the evening fixture, also live on Sky Sports.
  • Newly promoted Sunderland mark their Premier League return at home to West Ham, while Brentford visit Nottingham Forest, and Fulham head to Brighton during the traditional 3pm slot.

Super Sunday on August 17 features two heavyweight clashes:

  • Manchester United vs Arsenal at Old Trafford.
  • Chelsea vs Crystal Palace, with the FA Cup holders looking to build on their surprise triumph last season.

The opening weekend concludes on Monday Night Football, with Leeds United hosting Everton at Elland Road—marking the stadium’s return to top-flight football after two years.

Key Talking Points:

  • Europa League winners Tottenham start their season under new boss Thomas Frank at home against Burnley.
  • The Premier League will show a record 215 live games on Sky Sports during the season.
  • No fixtures are scheduled for Boxing Day (December 26), but games may be moved to that date for live broadcast.
  • A full round of EFL matches will be held on Boxing Day.
  • The Premier League has ensured that no team will play twice within 48 hours during the festive period between December 27 and December 30, and every club is guaranteed a home fixture on either December 27 or January 3.

With star-studded matchups and fierce rivalries reigniting from day one, the 2025/26 Premier League campaign promises drama, intensity, and unforgettable moments right from the start.
