The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has announced a 20-player provisional squad for the 2025 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket tournament, scheduled to take place this summer in Côte d’Ivoire.

The list features a solid blend of experience and youth, including a strong contingent from the team that clinched the 2023 Afrobasket title in Kigali, Rwanda.

Topping the roster are veterans Ezinne Kalu and Promise Amukamara, who bring championship pedigree and leadership. Also returning is Besiktas forward Amy Okonkwo, alongside key figures Nicole Enabosi and Lauren Ebo. After a lengthy absence, Victoria Macaulay has also been recalled to the national fold.

The squad includes fresh talent, with Solape Amusan earning just her second invite, while Grace Efosa has been handed a debut call-up by head coach Rena Wakama. Defensive anchors Pallas Kunaiyi and Murjanatu Musa retain their places, as do Elizabeth Balogun, Ifunaya Okoro, and Olawuyi Adenike.

Rounding out the squad are Christabel Ezumah, Vera Ojenuwa, Izoje Uche, Gift Uchenna, Ugonne Onyiah, Blessing Ejiofor, and Abiodun Damilola Yusuf.

Wakama, who guided D’Tigress to their fourth straight continental title in 2023, will be aiming to lead the team to an unprecedented fifth consecutive Afrobasket crown as Nigeria looks to further cement its dominance in African women’s basketball.
