In a solemn ceremony held in the holy city of Madina, Alhaji Aliko Dangote and Tajuddeen Dantata, eldest son of the late elder statesman and business icon, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, on Tuesday received a high-powered delegation from Kano and Jigawa States, who arrived to pay their final respects.
The delegation, led by Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, included Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, former Jigawa Governor Barr. Ali Sa’ad Birnin Kudu, and the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, among other dignitaries. Their visit came ahead of the funeral rites scheduled to take place after Asr prayers at the Holy Mosque in Madina.
A statement issued by the spokesperson to the Kano State Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, described the gathering as emotional and spiritually uplifting, marked by prayers and tributes to the late patriarch.
Tajuddeen Dantata, in his remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the presence of the delegation, describing it as a powerful reflection of the love and respect his late father commanded across Nigeria and beyond.
Africa’s richest man and industrialist, Aliko Dangote, who is also a member of the Dantata family, thanked the visiting dignitaries for standing with the family in their time of grief.
In a poignant moment, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, led a special prayer session for the repose of Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s soul, praising his legacy of philanthropy, community development, and his monumental contribution to Nigeria’s business landscape.
Before the funeral, the delegation visited the family’s residence at Mobeed Hotel in Madina to deliver their condolences. The presence of other notable personalities such as the Emir of Karaye, Dr. Muhammad Mahraz, and Chairman of the Kano Business Community, Alhaji Sabiu Bako, further underscored the impact the late Dantata had on the nation.
As thousands converge in Madina to honour him, the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and tributes marks a farewell befitting a man whose legacy of generosity, vision, and enterprise shaped generations.
