Former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s government, accusing it of “burying” the economy and pushing more Nigerians into poverty.

Amaechi stated that the current economic policies have failed to put money in the pockets of individuals, with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

“The current government has completely buried the economy,” he said. “We have a situation where only members of this government are in the rich class. The middle class has vanished, and the poor are increasing.”

Amaechi’s comments come in the wake of Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidies and float the naira, which has led to a high cost of living in the country.

Amaechi questioned where the savings from these policies are going, saying, “You’re making savings from removing the subsidy, from floating the naira — where is the money? Where is it going”.
