Vice President Kashim Shettima paid a condolence visit to the family of late former President Muhammadu Buhari in London, hours after arriving in the UK to escort the former leader’s body back to Nigeria for burial.

Accompanied by Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Shettima conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s directive for a state burial to honor Buhari’s legacy, praising the late president’s dedication to Nigeria’s development and describing his passing as a significant loss for the nation, particularly for the less privileged who benefited from his policies.

Buhari’s burial, initially scheduled for Monday, has been postponed to Tuesday, July 15, 2025, in Daura, Katsina State, with President Tinubu declaring a 7-day mourning period and national flags flown at half-mast.
