A delegation from the Republic of Niger has arrived in Katsina State, Nigeria, to participate in the burial rites of the late former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari.

The Nigerien government officials landed in Katsina on Tuesday morning ahead of the burial scheduled to take place in Buhari’s hometown of Daura.

Preparations for the final internment have reached an advanced stage, with the grave already dug and top government officials, diplomats, and security operatives converging on the state.

Virtually all major hotels in Katsina metropolis have been fully booked since Monday, as prominent figures, including Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, and Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, arrive to pay their respects.

The remains of former President Buhari are expected to arrive in Katsina at noon on Tuesday, with burial rites scheduled for 2 pm in his hometown of Daura.

The late president’s body was flown aboard a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) aircraft, accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, and other senior government officials.
