Prince Harry has retraced his mother Princess Diana’s footsteps by walking through an active landmine field in Angola to raise awareness for the Halo Trust charity.

The Duke of Sussex visited a remote village near Cuito Cuanavale, where he met children who are taught how to avoid detonating explosives.

“Children should never have to live in fear of playing outside or walking to school,” Prince Harry said, highlighting the ongoing threat of landmines to civilians.

The Halo Trust has cleared over 120,000 landmines in Angola since 1994, but approximately 1,000 minefields still need to be cleared, with an estimated 60,000 people killed or injured by mines since 2008.

Prince Harry’s visit aims to continue Diana’s legacy, who had worked with the same charity in 1997, bringing international attention to the danger posed by landmines.
