The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and imposed a 30-year ban on him from associating with the party.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) took the decision after discovering that El-Rufai had not joined the party despite claiming to be a member and promoting the activities of other political parties in Kaduna State.
The NWC stated that El-Rufai’s actions were in violation of the party’s constitution and principles, and that he had engaged in destabilizing schemes against the party.
The party also accused him of forging documents and self-registering as a member, and of trading with the party’s name without authority.
The 30-year ban, which takes effect immediately, prohibits El-Rufai from applying for membership, identifying with the party’s name, insignia, logo, symbol, or participating in any party activities.
The SDP warned its members and the public not to have any dealings with El-Rufai, as he is no longer a member of the party.
