A three-day strike by Tunisia’s transport workers has brought the country’s transportation system to a standstill, adding pressure on President Kais Saied to address the deepening economic crisis.

The strike, which is 100% successful according to the transport union, has disrupted daily life in major cities and rural areas, with metro stations deserted and buses at a standstill.

Workers are demanding higher wages, improved working conditions, and urgent reforms.

The Ministry of Transport has said that the union’s financial demands are unfair and cannot be met until the revenues of public transport companies improve.

Tunisians have been enduring poor public services for years, and the strike is further exacerbating the situation.
