Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the country’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their qualification for the final of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket tournament.

In a message posted on her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Mrs. Tinubu lauded the team for their stellar performance, consistency, and remarkable 10-year unbeaten run in the continental competition.
“I congratulate the D’Tigress National Basketball team #DtigressNG for qualifying for the finals of this year’s Afrobasket Tournament,” she wrote.
“Your 10-year unbeaten run is commendable, as it shows your commitment, dedication, hard work and love for the game.
You are true inspirations and pride to girls and women in general.”

The First Lady also expressed appreciation to the team for representing the country with excellence on the international stage.
“Thank you for keeping the Nigerian flag flying.
I pray that as you step out for the final match, God will crown your efforts and grant you great success.
We all await your arrival, with the trophy again!”
D’Tigress secured their place in the final after a gritty 75–68 victory over rivals Senegal on Saturday at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
In a game described by many as a clash of titans, Nigeria edged the first quarter 22–17 and continued their strong showing with a 21–20 second quarter. Despite a resilient fight from Senegal, the defending champions held firm throughout the tightly contested encounter to book their ticket to yet another final.
