The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has blacklisted popular Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, known as KWAM 1, and imposed a six-month flying ban following an altercation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo also directed the NCAA to immediately notify both domestic and International airlines of the directive, adding that anyone who flouts the directive risk withdrawal of their operating licence.

The incident occurred on August 5, 2025, when KWAM 1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight to Lagos with a flask containing an unidentified liquid, despite repeated warnings from aviation security personnel and the flight captain.
The musician allegedly refused to comply with safety instructions, spilled the contents of the flask on a security officer, and attempted to obstruct the aircraft’s movement, prompting emergency intervention from airport officials.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority described KWAM 1’s actions as a serious breach of aviation safety protocols and suspended two pilots involved in the incident for initiating departure procedures without ensuring the matter was fully resolved.
The regulatory body emphasized that no individual is above the rules governing civil aviation conduct and that standards must be upheld to protect airport workers from harassment.
KWAM 1’s media team has refuted the allegations, claiming the flask contained plain drinking water provided at the airport lounge and denying any physical altercation or obstruction.
However, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has confirmed that an investigation is underway, emphasizing that aviation safety protocols will be enforced without exception, regardless of a person’s social or celebrity status.
