The Alara of Aramoko Ekiti in Ekiti State, Oba Olu Adegoke Adeyemi, has died at the age of 82.
According to a statement released by his family on Saturday, the revered monarch passed away on Friday.
The family paid glowing tribute to Oba Adeyemi, describing him as a leader whose “remarkable leadership, wisdom, and dedication to the welfare of his people” left a lasting mark on the community.
“Oba Adeyemi’s impact on the community will forever be cherished as a testament to his enduring legacies,” the statement read in part.
Born on December 4, 1942, Oba Adeyemi was a teacher, senior civil servant, and Sole Administrator of the former Ifesowapo Local Government before ascending the throne in 2009.
He also served as Chancellor of Ekiti State University, where he championed initiatives to improve educational standards and expand access for local students.
Throughout his reign, the monarch was widely acknowledged for fostering community cohesion, advancing development projects, preserving cultural heritage, promoting conflict resolution, and empowering the youth.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family in due course.
