The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Prophet Adefolusho Aanu Olasele, founder and General Overseer of The Turn of Mercy Church in Lagos, for masterminding multiple shipments of illicit drugs into Nigeria.
Olasele, also known as Abbas Ajakaiye, was apprehended at his church in Okun Ajah, Ogombo Road, Lekki, on August 3, 2025, after months of evading arrest and fleeing abroad.
According to the NDLEA, Olasele orchestrated shipments of Ghana Loud, a strain of cannabis, into Nigeria through waterways from Ghana, with two shipments seized: 200kg on June 4, 2025, at Okun Ajah beach and 700kg on July 6, 2025, from his delivery van.
During interrogation, Olasele admitted to ferrying the illicit consignments into Nigeria and fleeing to Ghana to evade arrest twice in the recent past.
The NDLEA also reported significant drug seizures in multiple states between August 6 and 9, including 3,093kg of skunk in Nasarawa, 359kg of skunk and 20,000 tramadol pills in Kano, over 550,000 opioid pills in Gombe, and nearly 24,000 tramadol capsules in Edo.
