Egypt and Liverpool forward, Mohamed Salah, has been crowned the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Player of the Year, becoming the first footballer in history to win the award three times.

The 33-year-old Egyptian star was instrumental in Liverpool’s title-winning campaign last season, finishing as the Premier League’s top scorer with 29 goals and contributing 18 assists. His consistency and decisive performances earned him recognition ahead of a strong shortlist that included Reds teammate Alexis Mac Allister, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes, Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, Chelsea forward Cole Palmer, and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

Reflecting on the achievement, Salah said: “Of course, I wanted to be a football player and be famous to provide for my family when I was growing up in Egypt, but you don’t think about the big things then. As you grow, you start to see things differently, your ambition grows, and you see the bigger picture.”

The Liverpool talisman adds this award to an impressive haul from last season, having already been named the Premier League Player of the Season and the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers was named PFA Young Player of the Year after a breakthrough season that saw him emerge as one of the Premier League’s most exciting talents.

Former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate also received special recognition, honoured with the PFA Merit Award for his contributions to English football and his achievements with the national team.
