NIGERIA : Benue Governor Approves Suspension of Three Officials

Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has approved the suspension of three public officials, following resolutions passed by the State House of Assembly.

The decision was conveyed in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, on Wednesday.

According to the statement, the governor affirmed the suspension of the Executive Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Mr. Maxwell Ogiri, for one month. He also approved the one-month suspension of the Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mrs. Grace Adagba, as well as the immediate suspension of the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Lottery Commission, Mr. Michael Uper, for the same duration.

Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s commitment to the rule of law, due process, and the principles of separation of powers. He commended the House of Assembly for discharging its constitutional duties and assured citizens that his government will continue to uphold transparency, accountability, and good governance.

He further urged all affected institutions to ensure uninterrupted service delivery during the suspension period, while calling on the people of Benue State to support ongoing efforts to build a government that works for all.
