This operation is part of an intensified campaign in the northeast, where the military recently reported killing 592 armed militia members in eight months, surpassing operational gains made in 2024.

The region has been plagued by Boko Haram and ISWAP violence, which has killed nearly 40,000 people and displaced around two million.
