The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP) has issued a fresh 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government to address long-standing issues affecting its members or face a nationwide industrial action.

The ultimatum, which took effect on August 27, 2025, was announced in a communiqué released after the union’s 77th General Executive Council Meeting held at Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Danbatta, Kano State.

In the communiqué jointly signed by SSANIP President, Philip Ogunsipe, and National Secretary, Shehu Gaya, the union listed key demands including the immediate release of the new Scheme and Conditions of Service, constitution of a Renegotiation Committee for the 2010 Agreement, payment of outstanding arrears, and release of the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Needs Assessment Funds.

The association also demanded the settlement of promotion arrears, 25/35% salary review arrears, wage awards, and full implementation of the new minimum wage.

Expressing frustration, the union accused the government of insincerity and paying lip service to agreements despite several peaceful engagements.

“After exhausting its patience on these issues, the Council observed with great displeasure the government’s failure to prioritise the education sector or honour previous agreements,” the statement read.

The communiqué warned that if the government fails to act within the 21-day window, SSANIP would be left with no choice but to withdraw its services nationwide.
