Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal in principle to sign Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare from Belgian outfit Genk for a fee of €27m. The 23-year-old is scheduled to undergo a medical on Saturday.

Renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed the development late Friday, announcing on social media: “EXCLUSIVE: Wolves agree deal in principle to sign Tolu Arokodare as new striker from Genk, here we go! €27m fee agreed with Genk tonight and medical booked on Saturday for #WWFC new striker.”

Arokodare emerged as the top scorer in the Belgian Pro League last season, netting 23 goals and contributing seven assists in 45 appearances across all competitions. His standout performances drew interest from top European clubs, including Serie A giants AC Milan, who had considered him after failing in their pursuit of Sporting CP’s Conrad Harder.

However, ongoing transfer speculations saw the Nigerian’s role at Genk reduced this season, with the striker making only substitute appearances in five games.

Genk’s sporting director, Dimitri De Condé, had previously hinted at an imminent departure, putting the probability of Arokodare’s exit at “99 per cent,” and noting that the forward was “very well in the market and ready to take the next step.”

The deal is seen as a major reinforcement for Wolves, who are keen to bolster their attacking options as they prepare for the rigours of the Premier League campaign.
