Sadly, the Chinese national was kidnapped during the attack, while twelve NSCDC personnel were on escort duty.

According to the NSCDC, the remains of the nine deceased have been deposited in the mortuary, and three injured victims are receiving medical treatment.

Among the deceased is Chief Corps Assistant (CCA) Oluwatosin Sunday from the Ondo State Command.

The NSCDC described the killings as a grievous loss and commended the gallantry of its officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Corps assured the public that security agencies are working tirelessly to rescue the kidnapped Chinese national and bring the perpetrators to justice. “We call on the public to remain calm as we intensify efforts to rescue the kidnapped victim and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice,” the statement read.

The NSCDC concluded with a prayer for the repose of the officers’ souls, “May the souls of our gallant officers rest in peace”.
