A massive fire outbreak has rocked the Orile Iganmu area of Lagos State following a gas explosion that erupted on Bale Street on Sunday afternoon, leaving several houses razed and properties worth millions of naira destroyed.

The explosion, which occurred around 3:30 p.m., sent residents into panic as thick black smoke billowed into the sky, engulfing nearby buildings and forcing many to flee their homes.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and police operatives have since arrived at the scene to contain the inferno and prevent it from spreading to adjoining structures.

Firefighters were seen battling the flames, while rescue teams cordoned off the affected area to ensure safety.
