The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State until November 2, 2025.
The decision, reached during a commission meeting on October 27, follows numerous appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to collect their cards before the upcoming governorship election.
In a statement issued by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC explained that the extension, which moves the deadline from October 29 to November 2, aims to ensure that every eligible voter in the state is given ample opportunity to obtain their PVCs.
She emphasised that the exercise covers those who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and will take place at designated collection centres across the 326 registration areas, or wards, in the state.
Eta-Messi urged all registered voters yet to collect their cards to make use of this extended window, stressing that PVC collection is strictly in person, with no provision for proxy collection.
INEC expressed appreciation to the people of Anambra for their patience and cooperation throughout the exercise, urging them to take advantage of the extension to prepare for active participation in the forthcoming election.
