President Bola Tinubu has decorated the newly confirmed service chiefs with their ranks in a symbolic ceremony held at the State House in Abuja.
The decorated officers include Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff; Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff; Idi Abass, Chief of Naval Staff; Kevin Aneke, Chief of Air Staff; and Emmanuel Undiendeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence.
The ceremony, attended by top government officials and security chiefs, marked the formal transition of command in the nation’s armed forces.
The president emphasized the importance of the new leadership in strengthening Nigeria’s defence architecture.
The decoration followed the national assembly’s confirmation of the nominees, and the ceremony symbolized renewed leadership and a fresh drive toward enhancing the country’s security.
The event was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, among others. With their new ranks, the service chiefs are expected to drive the country’s security agenda and tackle the various challenges facing the nation.
