Meanwhile, reports indicate that hundreds of people have been killed in Tanzania during protests following the general election, with the main opposition party claiming around 700 fatalities and a diplomatic source suggesting at least 500 deaths, although the exact numbers are difficult to verify due to a nationwide internet shutdown.
