The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Mao Ohabunwa as the chairman of its new board of trustees (BoT), with Isah Dansidi serving as secretary.
The election took place at a meeting held at the Federal Capital Territory minister’s official residence in Abuja, led by Acting National Chairman Abdulrahman Mohammed.
Mohammed stated that the move aims to restore true values to the party and regain public trust, citing recent internal challenges and disputes that have deviated the party from its founding principles.
He emphasized the new leadership’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and respect for the rule of law, vowing to rebuild the party and restore public trust.
The previous BoT, led by Senator Adolphus Wabara, was deemed to have lost its moral balance, with Wabara’s suspension by the Abia State chapter of the PDP seen as a necessary step.
Mohammed acknowledged the party’s internal decay began when it abandoned its zoning principle before the 2015 elections, allowing ambition to override equity.
