A British man, Ashraf Qarmar Parvez, 68, has died after being shot during a robbery in Ghana’s industrial city of Tema, near Accra.
Police say he was shot after trying to stop an attempt to steal his phone at a drinking spot.
The UK Foreign Office has confirmed the death and is supporting the family.
The incident has raised security concerns in Tema, but local police described the shooting as a rare incident. Authorities are searching for the shooter, one of six suspects who fled on motorbikes.
A 9mm spent bullet shell was recovered, and witnesses have been interviewed as part of the investigation.
