The South-West Governors’ Forum, led by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is holding a crucial meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, to address pressing regional issues.

The gathering, which started at 2:15 pm, brings together governors from Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Ogun, and Osun states to discuss key challenges facing the region, including food security, insecurity, and economic growth.

The meeting aims to tackle the rising security threats in the region, with a focus on strengthening the Amotekun Corps and establishing a joint surveillance monitoring team to oversee security efforts across the South-West.

The governors will also address food inflation, with plans to establish a State Food Inflation Joint Monitoring Team and Aggregation Centre/Food Hubs to foster inter-state collaboration and mitigate food price hikes.

Other key agenda items include regional cooperation and integration, agriculture, and economic growth.

The governors will also review the implementation of previous resolutions, including the establishment of the South-West Development Commission (SWDC) and the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN).

The meeting is a follow-up to a similar gathering held in Lagos earlier this year, where the governors committed to working together to address regional challenges.

The outcome of this meeting is expected to shape the region’s trajectory on security, food resilience, and economic development.
