The incident, believed to be tied to cattle rustling, was reported by Eye Radio news.

Expressing condolences to the family, UNMISS called upon authorities to promptly investigate the attack.

Nicholas Haysom, the head of UNMISS, emphasized in a statement that this incident highlights the persistent and genuine threat faced by UN peacekeepers in their support for South Sudan’s pursuit of peace.

The region has been grappling with a relentless cycle of cattle raids and retaliatory assaults, resulting in a significant loss of lives in recent years.
