Kola Ologbondiyan, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally resigned his membership from the party.

In a letter dated December 5, 2025, addressed to the Chairman of Okekoko Ward (09), Kabba/Bunu Local Government, Kogi State, Ologbondiyan cited personal reasons for his exit, stating that he had reviewed his participation in the PDP and concluded it was time to leave.

Ologbondiyan’s resignation adds to the wave of high-profile exits that have rocked the PDP in 2025, including several governors who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), such as Ademola Adeleke (Osun), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Peter Mbah (Enugu).

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar also resigned from the PDP in July, citing concerns over the party’s viability and internal crises.

The defections have triggered concerns about the PDP’s internal stability and fortune in the 2027 elections.

Ologbondiyan’s exit is expected to trigger reactions within
Kogi’s political circle and the national party structure, given his longstanding influence within the PDP.
