The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has cleared former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, former presidential aide Reno Omokri, and former Governor of Abia State Victor Okezie Ikpeazu, among others, for ambassadorial positions.
The nominees were screened in batches, with a mild drama unfolding during Omokri’s turn, as Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Adams Oshiomhole disagreed on the clearance process.
Other approved nominees include former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Dambazau, former INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu, and former Governor of Enugu State Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
The Senate has also approved President Tinubu’s request to deploy troops to Benin Republic for a peace mission.
