Gunmen have abducted at least 12 Muslim worshippers in the Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, heightening concerns over the safety of travelers in the region.
The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, when the victims were traveling in a vehicle to attend Maulud prayers in Gaji village and were ambushed by the armed men.
Police have confirmed the abduction and stated that a team has visited the scene to begin investigations and intensify efforts to rescue the victims and arrest the perpetrators.
This latest attack has revived memories of previous incidents of violence against commuters in Plateau State, including a deadly attack in Mangu LGA in June 2025 and another in Jos North LGA in August 2021, underscoring what some analysts call a disturbing pattern of violence.
