Ghanaian authorities have arrested 48 Nigerian nationals, including two women, in a major raid targeting online fraud operations on the outskirts of the capital, Accra.
According to Ghana’s Minister for Communication, the suspects were apprehended during a coordinated, intelligence-led nighttime operation in the Dawhenya area.
They are believed to be involved in a range of cybercrimes, including romance scams, online investment fraud, and illicit gold trading.
During the raid, security officials seized 54 laptops, 39 mobile phones, and a Starlink internet device.
The minister stated that the operation is part of a wider effort to protect the country’s digital environment, affirming that while Ghana welcomes legitimate enterprise, it will remain a “hostile domain for cyber criminals.”
