Defending Champions of the Super 8, Sporting Lagos defeated Remo Stars of Abeokuta 4-1 in the SouthWest Derby at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Sunday.

Godwin Odibo won a penalty in the 5th Minute with Junior Lokosa converting from the spot to give Sporting Lagos a 1-0 lead. Paschal Durugbor doubled the advantage in the 27th minute after an error from Remo Stars Goalkeeper, Kayode Bankole.

A 38th-minute own goal by Sporting Lagos defender, Salaudeen Aliu reduced the scoreline to 2-1 as the first match ended. In the Second Half, Former Remo Stars player, Phillip Odubia extended the lead for the Hosts as he scored a beautiful Bicycle kick in the 54th minute. Mohammed Jamil provided the assist for Isaac as Sporting Lagos scored their fourth goal of the day in the South-West Derby.

In the other matches, Chijioke Mbaoma scored his 12th goal of the season to top the goalscoring chart as Enyimba defeated Doma United 1-0.

Shooting Stars defeated Akwa United 3-0 in Ibadan to send the Away side into the relegation zone as Lobi Stars continue to top the league after a 1-1 draw against Abia Warriors in Aba. Enugu Rangers and Kwara United match ended goalless at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium. The draws ensure that Enugu Ranger’s run of 5 match wins is halted.

After 24 Matches, Lobi Stars top the Nigeria Professional Football League Table with 43 points, one point above second-placed Enyimba while Plateau is in third position with 41 points. Heartland are bottom of the table with 20 points with Gombe United, Akwa United and Kwara United above them and two points each separating the bottom-four sides.
