Scotland will play Ivory Coast National Team for the first time on 31 March at Everton’s Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool as part of their World Cup preparations. The match will kick off at 19:30 BST, three days after Scotland host Japan at Hampden Park.

Clarke’s side, who secured qualification for this summer’s World Cup by topping their qualifying group, will also face Curacao in Glasgow on 30 May.

At the tournament, Scotland will open their group against Haiti in Boston on 14 June, before taking on Morocco and Brazil.

The Ivory Coast, who reached the quarter-finals of the recent Africa Cup of Nations, are also competing at the World Cup, where coach Emerse Fae’s team will face Ecuador, Germany, and Curacao in the group stage.

Clarke said the friendly against African opposition would serve as an ideal warm-up before Scotland meet Morocco in the tournament.

“We wanted to face African opposition before we play Morocco in the summer, and I’m sure Cote d’Ivoire will give us a real stern test,” he said.

He added: “It will also be good to play at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in Liverpool. The supporters will enjoy the opportunity to visit the new stadium.”
