Honourable Suleiman Olanrewaju Afinni, representing Lagos Island Constituency II at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has launched a five-day community programme combining the Elders’ Games and Palliative Programme with a Free Medical Outreach.
The initiative, organised by the Hon. Afinni Elders’ Committee, is being held at four locations across Lagos Island, aiming to improve elderly residents’ health, wellbeing, and social engagement.
The programme, now in its second edition for the Elders’ Games and fourth edition for the Medical Outreach, offers free medical consultations, essential drugs, eye screenings, dental services, and tuberculosis and blood pressure checks. Beneficiaries also receive palliative support items and participate in recreational games promoting healthy living.
Representatives of the organising committee noted that the combined format ensures elderly constituents receive healthcare access and social inclusion, making them feel celebrated.
Community leaders and beneficiaries praised the initiative, citing its impact on expanding grassroots healthcare access.
