Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi has confirmed his intention to run for president in 2027, declaring he will be the standard bearer.
Speaking at a campaign rally for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Obi urged supporters to back his preferred candidate, emphasizing their support is crucial to his political journey.
Since joining ADC, Obi’s supporters, including the Obidient movement, have been pushing for him to lead the party’s presidential ticket. Speculations suggest possible alliances, including an Obi-Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket or a running mate role under Atiku Abubakar, but Obi remains committed to contesting as the top candidate.
Obi has consistently stated he won’t spend more than four years in office if elected. His decision to run comes amid ongoing political maneuvering and speculation about potential alliances and candidacies for the 2027 elections.
