The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced changes to its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, citing “zoning exigencies”.
This move is seen as a strategic reorganization ahead of the party’s national convention, which is expected to set the stage for the 2028 presidential election.
Former Katsina State Governor Aminu Masari now chairs the committee, with former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim as Vice Chairman I and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as Vice Chairman II.
Other key appointments include Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as Treasurer, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni as Secretary, and Senator Godswill Akpabio as Legal Adviser.
The reconstituted committee has 15 members, with a mix of experienced politicians and serving governors.
The party has not disclosed the specific reasons for the changes, but insiders suggest it’s aimed at ensuring regional balance and representation.
The APC’s National Secretary, Umar Ibrahim, stated that sub-committees would be announced soon, and the party is committed to conducting a free, fair, and transparent national convention.
