The Department of State Services (DSS) has alerted the Kwara State Commissioner of Police about a possible terrorist attack on Gbabe community in the Baruten Local Government Area by suspected Mamuda terrorists.

The warning, contained in a letter dated February 5, 2026, cites intelligence reports indicating a build-up of armed men around Kiyoru Settlement, near the Kainji Lake National Park.

The DSS expresses concern over the movement of armed groups within and around the park, stressing the need for urgent preventive measures to avert any attack.

This alert follows a deadly attack on Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, where dozens were killed, including two wives of the Emir, several children, and prominent community leaders.

The Emir of Woro, Alhaji Saliu Bio Umar, remains missing, and his palace was set ablaze. The terrorists are allegedly linked to a Sadiku-led Boko Haram faction with ties to Sahel region networks.
