Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Sunday visited the scene of a fire at the Singer Market, urging the Federal Government to provide modern firefighting equipment to help contain such incidents in the future.

According to a statement by his spokesperson, Sanusi Dawakin-Tofa, the governor toured the Gidan Gilas section of the market, where the fire was still burning, causing extensive damage to shops and property.

Governor Yusuf commended the efforts of the Kano State Fire Service and security agencies in combating the blaze. He called on traders and residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency responders.

He also appealed for air support and additional firefighting tools to enhance the capacity of fire services, prevent future incidents, and ensure a more effective response to emergencies in major commercial centres.
