Nigerian long-distance runner Blessing Solomon has received a three-year ban from athletics after testing positive for Trimetazidine, a prohibited substance, at the Abuja Premium Trust Half Marathon on December 6, 2025.

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) announced the decision, citing Anti-Doping Rule Violations under World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.

Solomon, 28, admitted to the violation and accepted the consequences, qualifying for a one-year reduction from the standard four-year ban.

Her results from the December 2025 race have been disqualified, and she’ll be sidelined until February 2029.

This ban adds to Nigeria’s growing list of doping cases, raising concerns about anti-doping compliance in the country’s athletics scene.
