Super Falcons head coach Justine Madugu has unveiled a 25-player squad for Nigeria’s upcoming international friendly matches against Cameroon as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

According to a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Communications Department, the squad features captain Rasheedat Ajibade, first-choice goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and forwards Esther Okoronkwo and Chinwendu Ihezuo.

The two friendly matches will be played in Yaounde, with the first fixture slated for Saturday, February 28, and the second on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

The list also signals the return of experienced midfielder Ngozi Okobi-Okeoghene, who plays club football in Canada, and forward Gift Monday, now based in the United States. Both players missed Nigeria’s last major outing.

England-based goalkeeper Comfort Erhabor earned her maiden call-up, while defender Chidinma Okeke, who plays in Mexico, also returned to the squad. Midfielder Precious Christopher, currently plying her trade in Tanzania, received her first-ever invitation.

Several regulars retained their places, including defenders Osinachi Ohale, Michelle Alozie and Ashley Plumptre, as well as midfielders Halimatu Ayinde, Christy Ucheibe, Deborah Abiodun and Jennifer Echegini.

The NFF stated that the friendlies form part of preparations for the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026.

The federation added that all four semifinalists at the tournament will qualify automatically for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, heightening expectations for the Super Falcons, who are 10-time African champions.
