Nollywood actress and philanthropist Mercy Johnson-Okojie has been appointed Special Adviser on Public Engagement and Advocacy by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued on Thursday in Benin City by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Musa Ikhilor.

Johnson-Okojie, regarded as one of Nollywood’s most celebrated figures, has built a distinguished career spanning nearly two decades, featuring in more than 200 films. She has received numerous awards and nominations, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

Beyond her accomplishments in the film industry, she is widely acknowledged for her humanitarian efforts. Through the Mercy Johnson Okojie Foundation, she has spearheaded initiatives focused on women empowerment, child welfare, education support, and healthcare outreach.

In her new capacity, Johnson-Okojie is expected to deploy her influence, communication skills, and grassroots reach to enhance citizen engagement and promote broader awareness of government policies and programmes across Edo State.
