Wolverhampton Wanderers have strongly condemned racist abuse aimed at Nigerian striker, Tolu Arokodare on social media following Sunday’s 1–0 Premier League loss to Crystal Palace.

The 25-year-old forward was targeted online after missing a penalty just before half-time in the defeat. He is the third player to suffer racist abuse over the weekend, after Chelsea’s Wesley Fofana and Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri were also subjected to similar attacks following their sides’ 1–1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

In a statement, Wolves described the incidents as “disgusting” and expressed outrage over the abuse directed at Arokodare.

“There is no place for racism – in football, online, or anywhere in society. We condemn this abhorrent and unlawful behaviour in the strongest possible terms,” the club said.

Wolves reaffirmed their support for the striker, stressing that no player should face hatred for simply doing their job. The club added that the offensive posts have been reported to the relevant social media platforms and that they will work closely with the Premier League and authorities to identify those responsible and ensure appropriate action is taken.

The club also reiterated its commitment to maintaining a zero-tolerance stance against all forms of discrimination.
