Kola Onifoto, a 32-year-old Nigerian documentary photographer and travel enthusiast, has passed away after a solo motorcycle accident in Lagos.
He was involved in the crash on Sunday while riding to Akure, Ondo State, and succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Monday, March 2, 2026.
Onifoto, who recently celebrated becoming a biker in January, had shared his excitement about the trip on Facebook, saluting seasoned bikers and sharing his journey.
Friends and followers have taken to social media to share tributes, describing him as passionate, adventurous, and inspiring.
According to eyewitnesses, Onifoto collided with a Toyota Corolla that was making a U-turn, and speed may have contributed to the crash.
He was fully dressed in protective riding gear and was initially taken to the Federal Road Safety Corps emergency unit in Ojota before being transferred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where he passed away.
Onifoto was a multi-talented individual who worked as an Uber driver, writer, and naval officer. His family has appealed for privacy as they mourn his loss.
