Over 122 million worshippers visited Saudi Arabia during the 2025 Ramadan period, but the current tensions have disrupted flight operations for the lesser hajj, Umrah.

Intending pilgrims are reconsidering their travel plans due to safety concerns and flight unreliability.

Airlines like Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways have cancelled services, while Saudi Arabian Airlines continues operations.

Some pilgrims have already been affected, with flights cancelled and visas delayed. Alhaji Auwal Sani, who was scheduled to travel from Kano, said his flight was cancelled, and he’s seeking alternatives.

Hajj industry expert Faruku Umar warns that disruptions may persist, advising pilgrims to exercise caution and monitor travel advisories. Some have postponed their trips, citing safety concerns.
