The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Usman Dakingari as a non-career ambassador and Ismail Yusuf as chairman and CEO of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON). President Bola Tinubu nominated Dakingari and Yusuf on February 10 and 17, respectively.
The Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, led by Sani Bello, screened and found them suitable for the positions.
Senator Bello presented the committee’s report during plenary, stating that Dakingari and Yusuf were thoroughly screened and deemed fit for their roles.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio congratulated the nominees, praising President Tinubu for selecting capable individuals for national assignments.
Dakingari’s confirmation as ambassador is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic efforts, while Yusuf’s appointment as NAHCON chairman is seen as a boost to the country’s hajj operations.
The confirmations reflect the Senate’s approval of the President’s nominees.
